Happy Birthday to Us!!

Well, just as I knew would happen, I've been slacking on the blog postings, but better late then never!  So, I'm backtracking all the way to September 9th (only 19 days ago, not too bad) to when Lizzy and I shared OUR birthday.  I know, it's pretty much Lizzy's day now, but we're trying to teach her to share just a little.

Since our birthday fell on a Thursday, we really couldn't do that much, but I wanted to do something for Lizzy.  I made sure I put little birthday signs all over the walls for her when she woke up that morning.  She was excited to see the Wiggles, Elmo, Barney, and Mickey Mouse hanging on the walls.  She walked around and kissed all of them.  They actually stayed up for two weeks, she loved them so much!  Anyway, Jason spent the day with kids that day since daycare was closed for Rosh Hashanah...I worked, as usual.

That night Grandma Sharon, Grandpa Eliot, and Josh (who was in town for a couple weeks following his Africa trip) joined us at Jungle Java so the kids could run around and do something fun!  They actually had a blast.  Sydney was acting all motherly that day and helped out all of the little kids who were there playing there.  Although, Lizzy was on her own.  I guess Sydney only wanted to help out other kids who she didn't know...who knows?

After much debate over whether or not the kids would eat Chinese food, we went next door to Shangri-La.  Afterall, they can't eat hot dogs and chicken nuggets every day!  They were both really good, and surprisingly enough, they actually tried things.  Lizzy LOVED edamame...we even had to order more.  She loved the sizzling rice soup too, she kept saying, "mmmmmmmm, soup."  She also enjoyed the rice and noodles too.  Every time the waitress brought something out she would say, "oh, thank you".  She thought everything was for her.  The funniest part was when they brought out the sushi.  They brought it out on a nice big platter and it looked all pretty.  Lizzy said, "ohhhhhhh, cake."  We told her was sushi, and that she probably wouldn't like it, but she insisted on eating the "cake".  So, we gave her a piece, and just as I thought, she said, "I don't like sushi cake."  But hey, she tried it.  Sydney ate a little bit of chicken and rice, so everyone was happy and I got to eat ONE of my favorite meals...since everything is my favorite.  We will definitely have to take the kids for Chinese again, it was a good experience.

Then, present time!  Lizzy pretty much already got all of her presents at her party, so this part was more for me.  Jason went to Nordstrom and picked out a pair of shoes for me.  I was very impressed that he actually did that.  I never would have guessed that I was getting shoes, so it was a surprise...and a nice one.  He did a good job...he actually was listening one day when I was babbling that I had nothing to wear with brown...however, I ended up getting the same pair in black.  But, not because I didn't like them, but because he bought me the wrong size and they didn't have my size in the color he bought.  But black is better for me anyway, I will get way more use out of the shoes.  I get a TON of compliments on them.  I still want to get a subscription to Shoedazzle.com where they send you a shoe of the month...so I'll drop a subtle hint here in case anyone out there is reading this and can't think of anything to buy me for the next time I might need a gift!  My mom bought me earrings and my dad gave me money which I put towards a new dining room table.

Lizzy and I had a wonderful birthday together.  I'm looking forward to many more!
