Memorial Day Weekend...Just the Beginning

I decided to take Friday off of work to spend with the kids.  This wasn't a day to run around and do errands, but a day to just do nothing (except be with the kids).  I must say, I am totally digging this stay at home thing.  However, it's not reality.  If I really did stay home, there would be plenty of running around, cleaning, etc.  But I would like to think it's all fun and games, so I will think that just for today!

The weekend kind of began last night on a Thursday night.  We took the kids to a JARC fundraiser at the zoo.  It was closed to the public, so we had the run of the zoo.  The kids had a blast.  Lizzy actually appreciated the zoo way more than Sydney, which was surprising!  Lizzy thought that every single animal was a "doggie", but that's okay, she had a ton of fun, and obviously has a lot of learning to do!  But, she was really alert and looked at all of the animals in amazement.  It was definitely worth going, and great weather!!

Today, I was able to eat breakfast with the kids which was pretty neat.  Sure, I get to do that on the weekends, but today just felt different because it was Friday and I'm in a really good mood knowing that there will still be three more days left in this weekend!  The kids are also really happy because they got to sleep in!

So, after breakfast we played outside, watered the flowers (because Sydney loves to water flowers, which is fine with me!!), went to the park, played in the play room, and read books...all before lunch time!  Now the kids are taking a nap which gives me time to write all of this...I am enjoying every minute of it.  I did throw in a couple loads of laundry, but I'm making sure that I don't do too much cleaning today, that's not the goal!  The kids really want to go swimming after naptime, so I'm thinking that there isn't anything stopping us...it might just happen!  It's a great day....so far!

  1. Looks like such a great day!! I'm glad you get to enjoy days like this once in a while. Playing hooky is kinda cool :)

We were at the zoo last night, too. Our adventure wasn't nearly as successful as yours, though! Glad the girls had fun!!
